The Australian Soccer Federation invited Northern Ireland to tour Australia in 1980 to play a series of matches against the Socceroos. The nation marked 100 years of soccer and the Irish helped celebrate, playing matches in Sydney (2-1), Melbourne (1-1) and Adelaide (2-1) from 12-18 June.
Billy Bingham's team won two of the three matches by a goal and drew 1-1 at Olympic Park. Socceroos veteran, Jimmy Rooney - a member of the 1974 FIFA World Cup squad - made his 100th and last international appearance in the green and gold in Adelaide.
This design pays homage to the Socceroos and 100 years of Australian soccer.
