On 31 May 1980, a celebratory match was arranged between Australia and England. The visitors winning 2-1 to spoil the party. However, the Socceroos were not disgraced and had numerous chances to better the score. Throughout the year, the Socceroos played A-internationals against Czechoslovakia, Papua New Guinea, Northern Ireland, Mexico, Greece, Israel, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
Led by eccentric coach, Rudi Gutendorf, the Socceroos also toured later in the year - playing club sides Fiorentina in Italy, Leicester City in England and Dinamo Zagreb in Yugoslavia.
This design celebrates 100 years of Australian soccer.
