Australia had waited some 32 years to qualify for the FIFA World Cup again. In 1974, a team of part-time players led by coach Rale Rasic qualified as one of 16 teams. Rasic's men would not win a match, but took a giant stride forward for Australian football.
After that night in 2005, the Socceroos did their nation proud in 2006. Drawn in Group F with Brazil, Croatia and Japan, the Socceroos finished with four points - enough to progress to the knockout round. Eventual champions, Italy, infamously defeated the Socceroos by the boot of the flamboyant Francesco Totti. His penalty-kick at the death ended the hopes and dreams of a quarter-final appearance for the men in green and gold.
The Socceroos would go on to qualify for every World Cup since.
This design features the Socceroos' official name and numbering typeface, with match details, results and stadia. A must-have for fans of the appropriately titled, Golden Generation.
