Mark Bosnich is arguably one of the finest footballers Australia has ever produced. In terms of talent, it would be hard to argue. Bosnich can claim he was the only player Sir Alex Ferguson signed twice. The former Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa goalkeeper is considered by many as a legend of Australian football.

Bosnich was born and raised in Liverpool, New South Wales, to Croatian parents. He moved to the UK in 1988 at the tender age of 16 to join England's Manchester United and made his First Division debut in April 1990. In 1992, Bosnich signed with Aston Villa on a free transfer, where he would go on to inspire the club to two English League Cup trophies. He replicated his form with Villa at international level, where he was a standout for Australia in the Socceroos' quest to qualify for the 1994 FIFA World Cup and again in 1998.

After United's treble-winning season in 1999, goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel decided to end his time at the club on a high and was replaced by Bosnich, who had returned for a second stint - this time, as an established 'keeper. He helped United win the Premier League title that year as the club were crowned champions by an 18-point margin.

In 2001, Bosnich signed for London club, Chelsea, where he played a handful of matches in two seasons before a doping incident lead to the termination of his contract. He briefly reignited his career in the A-League during 2008, signing for the Central Coast Mariners. In 2009, he played eight matches in the NSW State League with Sydney Olympic.

Bosnich is now a highly respected media commentator, public speaker and advocate for Australian football.
