Botany Methodist Church (now Botany Uniting Church), was part of the Sydney Churches Football Association, which began in the early 1920s as the New South Wales Protestant Churches Soccer Football Association. Many well known Australian soccer players have played within its competitions, including Socceroos Johnny Warren, John Watkiss and Ron Corry - all Botany boys.

It was common for young Australians to play sport for the local church, whether it be cricket, rugby league or soccer. Botany Methodist played a significant role in the development of Botany since its earliest settlement by European people. The site chosen for the church was close to the wetlands on the eastern side of what would become Botany Road and it, with St Matthew's Anglican Church which was established to the north in 1862, provided a focus for the young settlement, with the Botany Public School in the same block.

The church still stands at 1355 Botany Road.

This design holds acclaim to the history of church soccer.
