Robbie Slater represented Australia 44 times, scoring the only goal of his international career with his backside against the Solomon Islands in 1997. Slater was known for his runs in midfield, particularly up and down the flanks. His greatest achievement being a Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers in 1995.
Often a controversial character, Slater has held an ongoing media role with FOX Sports Australia. His experience playing abroad for clubs such as Anderlecht (Belgium), Lens (France), Rovers, West Ham United and Southampton (England) have shaped his views for the Australian game.
Slater's spikey flat top hairstyle throughout his playing career made him easy to spot on a football field. Over the years he earned the nickname, Bulldog, for his tenacity.
He is an unapologetic Anglophile and has often clashed with former players and media personalities over his vision for the game. It is a game of opinions and he has never been afraid to share his.
