"My time at Club Brugge was fantastic and was the best place for me to start."
Frank Farina is one of the most successful Australian footballers of all-time. Born in Darwin in 1964, Farina dreamed of becoming a footballer from an early age. His playing career would span Australia, Belgium, Italy, England and France.
Farina was a major player for the Socceroos in the late eighties and nineties, as well as managing the national team from 1998-2005. However, his days in Bruges were perhaps his most memorable. He scored 43 goals in 75 appearances.
In 1990, Farina ended the season as the Belgian First Division A top scorer on 24 goals. The following season, he attracted offers from a number of European clubs, eventually moving to Bari in Italy's Serie A. At the time, only three foreign players were allowed per team. Farina would become the first Australian to play in Serie A.
This design is more than a tribute to Farina. It symbolises hard work, ambition and reaching the top.
