David Zdrilic was a talented youth who was always going to crack the senior team, wherever he played. Zdrilic began at St George in the New South Wales state league and by 1993 was signed by National Soccer League club, Sydney United. He spent four seasons there playing as a striker, scoring 39 goals in 114 appearances. He was the NSL's top goal scorer (21 goals) to finish the 1997 season.
His full international debut came that same year at the Optus World Series against New Zealand. Zdrilic transferred from Sydney United to play overseas, joining Aarau in Switzerland. He would go on to play in Germany, England and Scotland, making 169 league appearances in Europe, including 38 Bundesliga games.
Zdrilic returned to Australia to sign for newly established Sydney Football Club in 2005 - the inaugural A-League season. He ended his Australian national league career in 2008 before returning to play for Sydney United in the state league.
From 1997-2005, Zdrilic played 30 A-internationals for the Socceroos, putting away 20 goals. He was also a renowned beach soccer player, and became a prominent media personality, often appearing on SBS The World Game.
In 2017, Zdrilic took up a coaching role with RB Leipzig in Germany. This design is a tribute to the raging monster in front of goal, who terrorised defences, known to his mates as Zdrila.
