All the things you would expect at a Sydney Olympic soccer match. Founded as Pan-Hellenic in 1957, Sydney Olympic is one of the great clubs of the National Soccer League. Over the years, Olympic has served Sydney's Greek Australians with a place to meet, socialise and celebrate their passion.
Pan-Hellenic reached the New South Wales Federation Division One grand final in 1968, losing 4-2 to Hakoah. In 1977, the club changed its name to Sydney Olympic to start the inaugural NSL competition.
Olympic won NSL titles in 1990 and 2002, developing a number of national team players and future A-League stars along the way. The club was open to all walks of life but never forgot its Greek foundations.
Among the cast of characters at St George Stadium, Leichhardt Oval, Belmore Sports Ground or wherever Olympic played was Andrew Hatzioannou (Andrea) - the Legend. His hands in the air, chanting O-LYM-PIC to the support of a partisan crowd was part of the fabric of the NSL at a time when community played a huge part in sport.
This design captures the idiosyncrasies of Olympic for the avid fan and nostalgist.
