Ron Lord was Australia's goalkeeper at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. Lord played approximately 400 matches over almost two decades with Sydney clubs, Drummoyne, Auburn and Prague. As a junior at Rozelle, he played in the outfield. However, he switched to goalkeeper at Drummoyne in 1949. He then moved to Auburn, where he stayed until 1957.
Part way through 1957, he moved to Prague in the new federation league. Lord went on to win three consecutive New South Wales premierships from 1959 to 1961, four Ampol cups and a premiership grand final in 1959 against APIA-Leichhardt.
Lord was selected in the Melbourne Olympics squad, where he played in both of Australia's matches - a 2-0 victory over Japan and 4-2 loss to India. He retired from the game in 1964. In 1999, he was inducted into the Football Federation Australia Hall of Fame.
This design marks the career of an Australian football pioneer. Perhaps, Lord's greatest achievement is the respect and admiration he holds from the football community to this day.
